To mark the “World Green Building Week” BIT-Polytechnic and BEADS organised a ‘Green Walkathon ” on Sunday, 29th September 2019.
To mark the “World Green Building Week” BIT and BEADS on Sunday, 29th September 2019 organised a ‘Green Walkathon 2019. The walkathon was flagged off by Mr. Vaedavyas Kamath, Hon MLA, Mangaluru South from Nehru Maidan at 7:30 AM. Faculty and students from BIT, BEADS and neighboring institutions participated in the Walkathon which passed through the main routes of the city. Speaking at the flagging off ceremony, Mr Kamath stressed upon making Mangaluru plastic-free city and urged the students to lead the initiative to make the city clean and green.
Walkathon finished at Karavali Exhibition Ground at Mangala Stadium. Mr. D. B Mehta, Chairman IGBC, Mangaluru Chapter, spoke about the role of youth in the success of Swach Bharat Campaign. Mr. Mehta, continuing on the same topic said, “The world is facing threat from climate change and if we don’t take up the responsibility, we will lose it. And when the future generations will ask us why we failed to save the earth, we will not be able to answer them”. Dr. P. Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, BIT, spoke on this occasion and urged the citizens to understand the social responsibilities and act accordingly. Ar. Ashok LP Mendonca, Principal BEADS, also spoke on this event and told the participants about saving the earth from carbon dioxide and methane emissions.
