BITS, BEADS, BIES Celebrate World Green Building Week  & ‘International Coastal Cleanup day’ with Beach Clean-up and other initiatives

In keeping with its sustainable green vision of contributing significantly to a progressive, peaceful greener world and creating leaders in every field, the above Science & Technology institutions of the Bearys Group has introduced a futuristic concept of learning where nature and nurture come together to inspire young minds to become proponents of sustainable architecture and environment conscious leaders of the world.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Abubaker Siddique Beary, Director Bearys Group. The Principal of BIT, BEADS and BIES, Heads of various departments, faculty, non-teaching staff along with students of these educational Institutions joined hands to clean the Ullala beach.

The goal of beach clean-up initiative was to raise awareness about respecting nature and maintaining hygiene, more especially with focus on marine pollution and the need for putting an end to littering beaches with garbage and plastic which is destroying & depleting marine life in the oceans. The students displayed banners on environmental cleanliness and created public awareness with slogans at Ullala Beach. Hand gloves, Sanitisers and cleaning bags were distributed to all the participants.

The students of BIT also planted tree saplings in line with the theme of the event. In addition, the students also made use of art to demonstrate and create awareness about the environment by participating in a Green Sketching event and presented their artwork.

The students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BIT also conducted an awareness camp on ‘Water Conservation and Waste Management’ along with a quiz competition on the same theme at the Government High School in Pavoor.
